Overview

• We travel out along the N1 highway in a northerly direction.
• Not too far from the City we stop on Tygerberg Hills to enjoy a panoramic view of the Peninsula.
• Soon we leave the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town behind as we head for the Vineyards of Franschhoek and Stellenbosch
• We travel on taking the R301 to Franschhoek.
• We stop for a photo opportunity at Groot Drakenstein Prison, where we will stop for a photo opportunity -- the prison is the one from which Nelson Mandela was finally released on 11^th February 1990, after spending a total of twenty seven years behind bars.
• Then make our way to village of Franschhoek traveling the scenic Franschhoek valley. where the French Huguenots first settled some three hundred years ago.
• It is perhaps as a result of this French heritage that Franschhoek produces some of South Africa’s finest wines and is regarded as the “ Gourmet “ capital of South Africa.
• A must when visiting Franschhoek is a visit to “ Huguenot Fine Chocolate Shop”
• We take a drive up the Franschhoek mountain pass, in order to obtain a panoramic view of the Village and the magnificent surrounds
• Bach again into the Village and we take in the scenic memorial to the French Huguenots.
• We learn all about the rich history of Franbschhoek
• We will visit a Wine Estate and you will have an opportunity to taste some of their award winning wines.

• The road to Stellenbosch takes us through some stunning scenery.
• We pass through the little village of Pniel, and see one of the very few monuments to those who suffered as a result of Slavery.
• Our Tour takes us over the scenic Helshoogte pass and into Stellenbosch.
• Stellenbosch is the second oldest Town in South Africa.
• We travel through the oak tree lined streets of Stellenbosch, soaking its wonderful old world Cape Dutch Architecture and learn some of the history of this beautiful University Town.
• We will visit a Wine Estate where you will have the opportunity to taste their award winning wines.
• All too soon its time say farewell to the these magnificent Vineyards. as we return to base.
