A fascinating half day tour :
Itinerary :
- The tour commences with a drive through District six, historically from the Apartheid era.
- It takes in Groot Schuur hospital -- the hospital where the worlds first human heart transplant was performed by Dr, Chris Barnard and his team on 3rd December 1967

An extremely interesting and fascinating tour can be arranged to the "Heart of Cape Town Museum" located on site at Groot Schuur hospital. The actual operating theatre has been reconstructed and captures the drama of the ultimate operation. The visitor is given the opportunity to view the heart which gave the world new hope. The entrance fee to this phenomenal museum is R200 per person.
- Our tour continues past a historic flour windmill “ Mosterts Mill “ dating back to 1796.
- We make our way through the Campus of the University of Cape Town and marvel at its magnificent setting, on the side of the mountain below Devils Peak.
- Rhodes Memorial, a memorial to Cecil John Rhodes a former Governor of the Cape and founder of De Beers Diamonds the worlds largest diamond conglomerate is our next stop -- we go walk about and enjoy a photo opportunity of the memorial and spectacular views.
- We travel the world renowned botanical gardens of Kirstenbosch, where we have tea before going walk about in this awesome botanical wonderland situated on the slopes of Table Mountain.
- Groot Constantia, the oldest wine estate in South Africa, is our next port of call we go walk about this very scenic estate with excellent examples of historic Cape Dutch Architecture.
- There will be an opportunity to taste award winning wines produced on this 300 year old Wine Estate.
- All too soon it is time to commence our journey back to the City.
